Canadian Women’s U17 Team
Congratulations to former MUFC players, Rachel Jones and Simmrin Dhaliwal on their selection to the Canadian U17 National Team that will compete in the 2013 CONCACAF U17 Championship in Jamaica starting October 31st. Team Canada will face Guatemala, Trinidad & Tobago and the USA in group play. The top two teams in the eight-team tournament will earn berths in the 2014 FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup in Costa Rica. Rachel and Simmrin have excelled as members of the Whitecaps Girls Elite Program since being selected from MUFC earning them opportunities at the international level. Well done Rachel and Simmrin! Good luck to you and Team Canada from all of us at Mountain United FC.

Congratulations to the two BC Teams on winning Gold and Silver Medals at the 2013 Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The Girls captured Gold with an impressive run and were led by nine former Mountain United players and our former Head Coach of Girls, Jesse Symons. The players are Alessia Azermadhi, Simmrin Dhaliwal, Margaret Hadley, Reetu Johal, Rachel Jones, Seina Kashima, Nicola Mawson, Priya Sandhu and Sessen Stevens.
The Boys came away with Silver falling just short in the final match to the hosts, Quebec. MUFC coach Tony Francisco served as Assistant Coach and was accompanied by eight MUFC players: Robbie Hamilton, Adriano Clemente, Will Barrie, Justin Turner-Pearce, Parker Ellis, Nicholas Pineda-Graham, Michael Mauro and Michael North.
Congratulations to both teams and in particular, the players and coaches who represented Mountain United FC so very well!

MUFC is very pleased to announce that five more of our players have been selected by the Vancouver Whitecaps to continue their development. Katelyn Erhardsen, Meghan Douglas and Willa Taylor, all 1997-born players will be moving into the Whitecaps Elite Girls Program while Nathan Graziano (1999) and Will Bundy (2000) have been chosen for the Whitecaps Boys Residency Program. All of these players will complete Provincial Program commitments through summer then report to the Whitecaps in August. These five join an already impressive list of former Mountain United players that have made the jump into Whitecaps programs. Congratulations to all of them and the Club is very proud to have been a part of their development leading to these opportunities.

MUFC U18 Girls Graduating Class

EA Sports 2013 Scholarship Winners
EA Sports, and the BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) have announced the winners of the inaugural 2013 EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League Scholarships. Congratulations to all the winning applicants and in particular MUFC’s Andrea Di Lorenzo, Juan Acosta and Diego Grossling. Well done! As part of the criteria, winning applicants must be proceeding from grade 12 in 2013 to a university or post-secondary institution in BC, have a 3.0 GPA, and play for a BCSPL franchise or their regional partner club. Sixteen scholarships of $1000 each were made available to 8 male and 8 female students, with 2 possible winners from each club. If there wasn’t an applicant from each club, a second worthy applicant from a club with more than one applicant was chosen.

2013 BC Soccer Provincial Development Program – Phase Two
BC Soccer has announced the rosters for Phase Two of the Provincial Development Program from May 14-26, 2013. This Phase will include participation at the Friendship Cup in Portland, Oregon. National U17 Women’s Team ID Camp
Our congratulations to Simmrin Dhaliwal and Rachel Jones, two recent players with MUFC who have been invited to a National U17 Identification Camp in Vaughn, Ontario, December 14-20, 2012. This camp brings together 24 players born in 1997 in order to begin preparations for competitions in 2014. Simmrin, a playmaking midfielder was a member of our very strong U16 (1996) team which claimed the Provincial Premier Cup this summer leading to an appearance at the Club Nationals in October. Rachel, also a strong and creative midfielder was a member of our U15 (1997) team and was a call-up to the Club Nationals with the 1996 group. Both girls are now members of the Vancouver Whitecaps U18 Elite Program. Good luck Simmrin and Rachel!

Congratulations to U18 team member, Gilbert Kyne who has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his soccer career at Simon Fraser University in September. We are very happy for Gilbert and pleased that MUFC has contributed to his soccer development and this wonderful opportunity. Gilbert is an exciting and gifted player who will undoubtedly create many great moments at SFU. Prior to this move however, Gilbert looks forward to leading the U18 Boys to a successful inaugural season in the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League.
